But at least it beats "Walkin' Blues" in the 90's!

Oddly, though I don't have much use for the 90's overall, I really like Bobby's take on Walkin' Blues. I'd skip most everything *else* on a 90's set list ... there's also Lazy River Road, which is very sweet even in the middle of some truly horrible shows.

OK, but please don't tell me you liked "Black Muddy River" also ;-)

I love Black Muddy River. But I readily admit that many of the live versions are not really listenable.

...and to be fair, much of what occurred after about 1991 was un-listenable.

Exactly. It's not the songs' fault :) Lazy River Road and Black Muddy River are exquisite. They should have been masterpieces. We all know they weren't ...

And So Many Roads. It's a short sweet list of bright last flames ...

This Walking Blues may be the best they did.

also the best-ever "Loser" comes from that show!

(or perhaps tied w/best-ever from Ventura 7/22/84)

Oh yes it does! The first 7 songs in Set One are excellent. From a usual tuning number LTGTR becomes a great song. Set Two is, well you know. One of the few shows I listen all the way through (well no TJED, OMSN).

How did that Loser not make it on to Dozin' at the Knick? A minor tragedy...

I'll never understand that either. It had to be a conscious decision to leave it off--which makes no sense, b/c clearly it's one of the best--if not THE best version ever...which leaves only the possibility that maybe somehow the SBD tapes were not running at the time they played it or crapped out or something, and they felt the quality of what they were left w/wasn't good enough to include on the CD.....but if it was anything else someone needs to be taken to the tool shed for not recognizing what a travesty they committed. Absolutely one of the great live recording mysteries ever.
